HFRI 400 (US) Hedge Fund Index Methodology
The HFRI 400 (US) Hedge Fund Indices are global, equal-weighted indices comprised of the largest hedge funds that report to the HFR which are open to new investment by US investors and offer quarterly liquidity or better.
Funds are classified into four main strategies following the hedge fund strategy classification of HFR, Inc.
Eligibility Criteria
Constituents included in the HFRI 400 (US) Hedge Fund Indices must:
- Report monthly returns in USD
- Report net of all fees returns
- Report assets under management
- Be open to new investments by US investors
- Provide quarterly redemption liquidity or better
- Be within the largest 400 funds in terms of their liquidity and assets under management that meet all the above criteria
